v1.13 Changelog

Released: October 2026

The "Accountability Chart" release: the chart becomes a versioned document. An organization keeps one chart for the whole company (or one per team), every team sees it with its own part highlighted, and changes go through a draft that is published from a chosen day.

Highlights

  • One chart for the organization: the company chart on every team's page, with the team's part outlined and a Zoom to team button; or one chart per team, as before
  • Versions: draft, Publish… with an effective day and a note, scheduled versions, history and a comparison with the current version
  • Three views: Tree, Compact and Outline, with pan, zoom, search, folding and a minimap
  • A real editor: people (members or external, acting), responsibilities, linked teams, undo and redo, drag to move
  • Teams linked to seats: a team owns a seat and everything below it, or only the seat
  • Export: vector PDF (A4, A3 or one page) and PNG, the whole chart, a team's part or the current view

Features

Organization or Team Chart

  • Organization settings → General → Accountability Chart: One for the organization or One per team. Switching deletes nothing.
  • New organizations start with one chart for the organization; existing organizations stayed per team.
  • In the company chart a team's page highlights its part; the Team picker offers every team and Whole company.

Seats

  • Title, 0--10 people per seat (organization members or external persons, with a note and an acting flag), and up to 12 responsibilities.
  • A seat without people shows Vacant; several top seats are allowed.
  • Teams can be linked to seats as This seat and below or Only this seat; a seat can have several teams.

Reading the Chart

  • Tree, Compact (narrow, prints well) and Outline (default on phones); Detail or Overview cards.
  • Drag to pan, wheel / pinch / + − to zoom, Whole chart, keyboard shortcuts, foldable branches, minimap for large charts.
  • Search for a seat or a person, ignoring accents.
  • A seat panel (bottom sheet on phones) with all people, responsibilities, Reports to, linked teams and the number of seats below.
  • View, card density and folded branches are remembered in the browser.

Versions

  • Publish… with Effective from (not before the latest version's day) and an optional note; a future day schedules the version.
  • The Versions menu marks Current, Scheduled and Earlier versions.
  • Take back the scheduled version turns it into the draft again.
  • Older and scheduled versions open with a banner and Show changes against the current version: cards marked New / Changed and a list of changes.

Draft Editor

  • Start from the leadership team's chart, Start an empty chart or continue the draft; nobody but editors sees it.
  • Autosave, Undo / Redo, Add a top seat, Discard draft, Done, Publish….
  • Side panel for a seat: people, responsibilities, teams, Reports to, Add below / Add beside, Delete seat; drag a seat onto another on desktop.
  • If someone else saved the draft in the meantime, you get a message and the draft reloads.

Export

  • Export saves the chart (or the draft, marked DRAFT) as a vector PDF -- A4 or A3 landscape, or one page the size of the chart, with selectable text in the brand fonts -- or as a PNG at three times the screen resolution.
  • The whole chart, the selected team's part or the current view; with or without responsibilities; with or without the team highlighted. A header names the organization, the version and the export day.

See Accountability Chart.

REST API and AI Assistants

  • GET /api/v1/teams/{teamId}/org-chart returns the chart that applies to the team (with teamSeatIds for a company chart); ?version=n reads a published version. GET /api/v1/orgs/{orgId}/org-chart reads the company chart.
  • Drafts through the API: open (POST …/org-chart/draft), read, save the whole draft with its revision (PUT, 409 when stale), discard, publish (POST …/draft/publish) and take back a scheduled version (POST …/versions/{number}/withdraw). See API.
  • The MCP tool get_org_chart accepts an optional version.

Changes

  • Existing per-team charts were carried over: each became that team's chart, version 1, effective on the day of the update; free-text responsibilities were split into points by line.
  • The old per-seat REST endpoints POST /teams/{teamId}/org-chart/seats, PATCH /org-chart/seats/{id} and DELETE /org-chart/seats/{id} were removed.
  • GET /teams/{teamId}/org-chart has a new shape: the chart with its version and seats instead of a flat list of seats.
  • Who edits the chart depends on the mode: in the company chart the same people as the company vision, in a team chart the team's Admins.

Upgrade Notes

  • A database migration carries the existing charts over; it runs with the deploy.
  • Scripts and integrations that used the per-seat REST endpoints or the old response must be updated.
